At My Pediatric Dentist, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and comfortable during dental care. That’s why we always begin with behavior guidance techniques — such as positive reinforcement, gentle communication, and distraction — before considering sedation. Many children complete treatment with these methods alone, and we reserve sedation for situations where it is truly the best option for a child’s health and well-being.
When sedation is appropriate, Dr. Austin’s specialized training in pediatric and hospital dentistry allows us to provide the following safe, carefully tailored options:

We Offer the Following Options for Sedation
Nitrous Oxide (“Laughing Gas”)
Mild to Moderate Oral Sedation
For children with higher anxiety or more extensive treatment needs, Dr. Austin may recommend oral sedation. The medication is delivered orally as a syrup that your child drinks — with or without the assistance of parents or our staff. This option allows children to remain drowsy and relaxed while still maintaining protective reflexes and responding to verbal commands.
In-Office General Anesthesia
Hospital-Based Dentistry [COMING SOON]
For children with extensive treatment needs or complex medical conditions, we provide care in a hospital setting under general anesthesia, ensuring a fully supported environment with access to advanced medical resources.
